Shiok Curry Puffs

These could just be the best curry puffs you've never heard of. But be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes for them.

They're from a nondescript stall in the basement of Golden Mile Tower called Dessert House that sells hot and cold desserts. What most folks queue for, though, are these unexpected stars: knobbly pugs that are made a la minute (hence the wait). Each fat, buttery pastry pocket is expertly stuffed with a scoop of chunky curried potato and a piece of hard-boiled egg by a woman with perfectly manicured nails.

She then deep fries it in front of you to crispy golden goodness. The pastry's a tad thick, but the filling is tasty and the heady aroma of the hot, freshly fried puffs is a killer.
